SEC Establishes Supervisory Cooperation Arrangement With Hong Kong SFC

On January 19, 2017, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) announced that it signed a comprehensive Supervisory Cooperation Agreement with the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (“SFC”). The new agreement will increase the amount of information shared between the two agencies regarding regulated entities such as investment advisers, broker-dealers, securities exchanges, market infrastructure providers and credit ratings agencies. The agreement will also streamline the exchanging of information between the SEC and the SFC as well as facilitate the SEC’s process of conducting examinations of regulated entities in Hong Kong.
